Prolific chef David Adjey, former Iron Chef America competitor and host of Food Network programs Restaurant Makeover and The Opener, equips students with the tools needed to craft three upscale, home run meals at home. During the twohour class, the expert food artisan uses fresh items from St. Lawrence Market to demonstrate cooking techniques that result in breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings ready to silence hunger or at least get it to turn down its music. Volunteers chosen from the approximately 50 attendees leave their seats to help David cook meals by playing the part of sous chef. Anecdotes from the food guru\'s life as a celebrity chef and impersonator of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets also spice up the demonstrations. While David slices and sautes, fledgling culinarians can sip potable brews from an onsite cash bar. In addition to cooking on TV, Adjey once served as personal chef to actor Dan Aykroyd. After graduating at the top of his class from the Culinary Institute of America in New York, and spending a summer assisting chef Guiliano Bugialli in Florence, Adjey made his name at the Relais & Chateauxaccedited San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. Culinary fans can purchase an autographed copy of David\'s cookbook Deconstructing the Dish, which breaks down basic cooking principles and how to sweettalk wood sticks until they turn into cinnamon. |
